Defender Callum Davies has urged his Folkestone team-mates to find their consistent form again.

No team has played less league games in Bostik Premier than Folkestone, who have lost their last two outings against Merstham and Met Police ahead of Tuesday night's home clash with Leatherhead.

“We had a really good month last month but the last couple of results haven’t been great,” said Davies.

“We need to pick it back up and go again. It’s a funny league where everyone beats everyone so we’ve got to get back to winning ways and working hard.

“We showed that consistency last month, we can compete against the top teams.

“We’ve got to get that in our play, if we are all six or seven out of 10 then we’ll be up there. You are always going to have a bad patch as such, we’ve just got to ride the storm and hopefully pick up.”

Davies, who impressed at the back for Invicta during the FA Cup defeat at Slough on Saturday, felt the importance of the game might have got to some of the players.

“It was a sloppy goal and off the back of that, I don’t know if the occasion got a bit too much for us, maybe,” he said.

“I didn’t think we were good enough on the day but we haven’t been that great in the FA Cup in the earlier rounds.

“We’ve got to brush it off, concentrate on the league and go again. There’s a lot of games coming up, a lot of football to be played.

“I don’t know if it was nerves or not but goals change games. To be fair to them, they shut up shop and we looked like we ran out of ideas a little bit. That’s football, we’ve got to move on as it’s a long season.”
