Folkestone Invicta chairman Paul Morgan has announced they will not rush back to football.

Invicta's directors, along with manager Neil Cugley, have decided they will not return to action until the mid to end of January at the earliest.

Folkestone's last game in the Isthmian Premier was a 2-1 home win over Hornchurch on November 3.

The FA announced last week that fans can now attend football matches at steps 3-6 even if areas are under Tier 3 restrictions - but Invicta don't think it is safe to play yet with infections rising in the county.

The statement said: "As you all know we are in tier 3 and we have been put in tier 3 for a reason.

"We have been waiting a decision on what the league are going to do. The board of directors including Jim and Neil got together to discuss the situation and we all agree not to play any games until mid to end of January at the earliest.

"This decision was not took lightly. All we want is you the supporters, the players and the officials of this fantastic club to be safe and if we played any games at the moment we would be putting your life’s the players life’s and officials life’s at risk and we are not prepared to do that.

"I hope you all agree with our decision and we all look forward getting you back to the ground watching football soon but only when it is safe to do so.

"I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Please stay safe and hopefully see you all very soon."
