Folkestone are hunting down Kent rivals Faversham in a dramatic race for the runners-up spot in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Finishing second would mean home advantage in the play-off final if Invicta got that far.

They’re already assured of a home semi-final on Tuesday, April 28 against either Merstham or Whyteleafe.

But having gone 12 games unbeaten and won their last seven at home, Folkestone and their manager Neil Cugley aren’t about to let up.

With two games left, they’re level on points with second-placed Faversham and the two teams have an identical goal-difference, with the Lilywhites just ahead on goals scored.

Cugley said: "Whatever else happens, if we get a result at Walton Casuals on Saturday, there’s something on the last game of the season against Burgess Hill.

"That’s what we keep saying to the players. For the last few weeks, there’s always been something on the game.

"We wanted to get in the play-offs and then we wanted to get a home game on the Tuesday night, so we didn’t have to go round the motorway to Merstham.

"We’ve done that now, so let’s see where it goes. We could still finish second and we’ll be doing our best to do that."
