Folkestone boss Neil Cugley says Invicta can’t take the threat of Greenwich Borough lightly in their FA Cup first qualifying round clash at the Fullicks Stadium on Saturday.

Invicta stunned Tonbridge Angels 3-2 on the road in the Bostik Premier derby on Monday while Borough were moving into the top half of the South division with a 3-0 win over Phoenix Sports, however Cugley claims his side will have their work cut-out.

He said: “For people who don’t know too much about football, you might see us being at home against a side from the league below and think that’s all right but it’s not like that.

“We probably need the £3,000 prize money more than them. They are big-spenders and ambitious. They might be the league below at the moment but they have big plans.

"It’s definitely a tough game for us but we’re doing all right ourselves at the moment. We look fit and sharp and we’re looking forward to it.”

Invicta secured three points from their two games in three days, courtesy of a comeback from 2-1 down at Longmead.

Cugley said: “It was such an open game, with so many chances at both ends. It could have been 8-8.

“There were chances flying about and we said at half-time we shouldn’t panic because there would be opportunities for us and so it proved. We got in front and managed to see it out.”

He added: “There were a lot of goals scored on Monday. Two games in three days in hot weather probably helped create some defensive mistakes and weird results.”

Goals in added time at the end of either half saw Invicta go down 2-0 at home to Needham Market on Saturday, with Cugley claiming the Suffolk side are Invicta’s bogey-team.

He said: “They’ve got something over us. That’s three times we have played them, we’ve dominated all three and we’ve lost all three. Even their manager said that.

“We played well and you have to give them credit. In the end, we were chasing the game and you throw your centre halves up front and we got caught on the break.”

He added: “We’d have probably taken two draws but you want X amount of wins to get yourself away from trouble and we want this season to be an enjoyable one, rather than one where you’re looking over your shoulder.”

Joe Taylor (knee) should feature against Greenwich while, barring a replay, Invicta also visit Hythe in the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).
