Folkestone Invicta’s Fullicks Stadium is taking on a different look this week following the winter storm damage which forced the closure of the main stand.

The club have decided to dismantle the structure completely and move around 400 seats to to the Brian Merryman Stand on the other side of the ground, ensuring the club meets the criteria required to play in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Club sponsors, local construction firm M3 Solutions are carrying out the work, and boss Neil Cugley said: “It is costly, but we had had no option really to make sure we could continue to play at this level.

“The old stand will be an open terrace next season, and the club will be looking at obtaining grants to fund the building of a new stand in the future.”

Cugley is bullish about the club’s fortunes on and off the pitch adding: “I am really pleased with the way things are going, we have really turned a corner as a club after what happened two years ago, and have worked so hard to get it right.”

Player-wise, the Invicta chief is looking to bring in another striker, and is hopeful of completing things before the end of this week.

Meanwhile Johan ter Horst is continuing to prepare for his new career with Hull City, ahead of joining his new team-mates for pre-season training next month.

Cugley said: “Johan came back the other day to do a presentation for me. He has found a place to live and is looking to move in next week.”
