Both Folkestone and Margate came from a goal behind on Saturday to draw their respective opening fixtures of their new Isthmian Premier campaigns.

A stunning strike by Kadell Daniel got Neil Cugley’s side level in the second half after home team Enfield had led at half-time through a goal by Jake Cass as the teams played out a 1-1 draw.

At Margate, Ben Greenhalgh scored a late penalty as they drew with Kingstonian.

Tyrese Owen had given the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time before Gate captain Greenhalgh kept his nerve from the spot to earn Andy Drury’s men a share of the spoils at Hartsdown Park.

Cray Wanderers let their lead slip as they were beaten 2-1 at recently-relegated Billericay in the same division.

Beckenham won a five-goal thriller at Lancing.

The Lancers led 2-1 at half-time, Louis Theophanous’ strike for Beckenham sandwiching two goals for Tyrone Madhani.

But Danny Waldron equalised for the visitors and substitute Alfie Broomfield won it with five minutes to go.

VCD beat another of last season’s play-off semi-finalists, Haywards Heath, 2-1.

Anthony Adesite opened the scoring but Alahady Ibrahaim Jalloh got Haywards Heath level before Daniel Phillips netted the all-important third goal midway through the second half.

VCD could have added a third late on when Ben Holden received a second yellow and was sent off. Away goalkeeper Billy Collings saved the spot-kick but it mattered little in the end.

There was a winning start for Ashford, too, at Burgess Hill.

Faversham were on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller at home to last season's FA Vase finalists Littlehampton.
