Josh Kennedy rises to No.15 in the British super bantamweight rankings with victory over Valentin Marniov at York Hall

Josh Kennedy has opponent Valentin Marniov in his sights

Josh Kennedy powered to the second victory of his professional career at York Hall on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old former amateur star defeated Bulgarian Valentin Marniov with a technical knockout in the second round to delight of the 100-plus supporters who had travelled from Folkestone to Bethnal Green to cheer Kennedy on.

He said: “I knocked him down three times in the first round and then again in the second before the referee stepped in.

“Since turning pro I have been working hard on improving the power of my punches and I just had too much power for him.”

The victory has lifted Kennedy in the British super bantamweight rankings to No.15.

He added: “I would like to thank all the people who travelled from Folkestone to support me and also Dynamix Gym in Cheriton where I have been doing all my power work.”
