Sibton Park CC up against Rottingdean in the Davidstow Village Cup sixth round this weekend

Sibton Park are three wins from Lord’s and they need your support at Sunday’s huge Davidstow Village Cup sixth round tie in Lyminge.
Victory against Rottingdean, of the Sussex League, would send Sibton through to the quarter-finals of the national competition for the first time.
Two village clubs will contest the final at the home of cricket on Sunday, September 13 and Park skipper Steven Rowe believes his side have what it takes to go all the way.
He said: "It’s exciting. We like playing in this competition and everyone’s buzzing around the club.
"If we can get over the line on Sunday, we’ll be in the last eight and that’s further than we’ve ever gone before.
"Rottingdean are from Brighton and reached the final in 2011, so they know what it’s all about and they’ll be a decent outfit.
"But being at home is a massive advantage and we need to capitalise on that. We’ve got a good track, we know our ground and hopefully we’ll have a lot of support from around the club and local people as well."
Play starts at 1pm and entry is free. The club are running a barbecue and there will be a bouncy castle and face painting for children while families can enjoy a picnic at the boundary edge.
Sibton Park have already beaten High Halstow, Bidborough, Linton Park and Rowledge to reach this stage of the Village Cup, which they first entered in 2012.
Rowe said: "We’ve been away most of the time so it’s nice to get a home tie. It’s great for the club and hopefully we’ll get a few people supporting us.
"It’s easy to lose sight of the fact we are a village team (having recently played in the Kent League Premier Division). We play against big town teams and are definitely not that.
"We always look forward to it when the draw for this competition comes out.
"Lord’s is a long way off but of course it’s in the back of our minds."
