A first Isthmian Premier home win of the season wasn’t enough to leave Folkestone joint-head coach Micheal Everitt totally satisfied.

Second-half strikes, an own goal and substitute Ira Jackson Jr’s effort, helped Invicta win their Kent derby 2-0 against Margate in front of a bumper crowd of 1,112 on Monday.

But Everitt said: “We’d have liked to have put a bit more gloss on it, if I’m honest.

“I thought we had countless chances. The amount of times we didn’t finish it after working the ball to the front players and making something happen, that was a disappointment.

“But we’re glad to get a clean sheet and three points.”

Their first came in the early stages of the second period from a corner which captain Callum Davies had sent towards goal - but away defender Harry Hudson got the final touch.

Asked if the former Gillingham defender had attempted to claim the goal, Invicta’s joint-boss replied: “He did try to claim it, as it happens - but that’s Callum!

“He had another solid game along with Will [Moses]. To be fair, they’ve had two big chances in the first half due to individual errors and Joe [Coleman] has saved us, like he did on Saturday [in a goalless draw at Hashtag United].

“Joe’s progressing really well.”

It was a second league success at the fifth attempt, two defeats and a draw having come since their opening-day 4-0 away win at Wingate & Finchley.

“You don’t want it going on too long,” admitted Everitt, whose team visit Hartley Wintney in The FA Cup First Qualifying Round this Saturday.

“But I felt, in the games we played against Enfield [a 2-1 defeat] and Chatham [a 3-2 loss], we quite easily could have got a point - or even won the game.

“That’s probably a case of being a bit more clinical.”
