Friends tonight will come up against each other when Folkestone host Faversham.
The Lilywhites, who last month appointed ex-Invicta striker Simon Austin as their new manager, are due to visit Cheriton Road in the Third Round of the Velocity Cup.
There have been changes in Folkestone’s dug-out, too, with legendary boss Neil Cugley last week having stood down from his role as manager, leaving Roland Edge and Micheal Everitt in charge.
Player-coach Everitt played alongside Austin at Folkestone and both started in 2010 as Invicta beat Godalming 2-1 in their Isthmian South play-off final - with Austin on the scoresheet.
“I talk to Austo all the time, he’s a really good friend,” he said.
“We go out for dinner every now and then with our wives. He’s just taken over at Faversham. I wish him all the best - apart from tonight - but he’s a great lad.
“I’m sure we’ll have a beer after and talk about the game.”
Austin’s first match at the helm saw Faversham beat league rivals Ramsgate 2-1 but, as yet, he hasn't improved their league form.
They are presently bottom of Isthmian South East having been beaten 4-1 at Burgess Hill and lost 6-1 on Saturday at Whitehawk despite Bradley Schafer’s fourth goal of the season.
Last season, Invicta reached the Velocity Cup semi-final, where they lost 5-0 at Horsham who - ironically - they beat 2-0 at the weekend through goals from strikers Ibrahim Olutade and Ade Yusuff in the First Round of the FA Trophy to get their new era off to a winning start.
