Soul singer's big World Cup gig

A SINGER from the county is to perform in front of a crowd of 40,000 at the World Cup in Germany.

Soul singer Watson T Browne received an invitation from the mayor of Nuremberg and he is to entertain the fans for one hour before and one hour after the England versus Sweden game on Tuesday.

The artist, born in Trinidad, is very well known in Germany where his records are played almost daily on the national radio stations.

The singer, who has lived in Folkestone for the past five years, said: "I was very shocked to be invited – but I’m also very pleased. I’ve never played in front of such a huge audience."
