THE Vally Leisure Centre at Folkestone is hosting a wheelchair basketball taster day on Sunday from 10am to 1pm.

The event will be led by England Basketball’s wheelchair sport manager Gordon Perry who will demonstrate a range of specialist chairs to suit all shapes and sizes.

The sessions are open to anyone, wheelchair users or not, who can operate a manual chair.

Sarah Philpott, the centre’s sports development officer, said: "We are hosting this event to determine the interest for the sport.

"After this Sunday, sessions will go on for another five weeks, same time, same place." She hopes to build a group of players to buy more chairs and organise regular sessions, for both experienced players and beginners.

The centre is at Tile Kiln Lane, Cheriton, Folkestone.
