Fit-again Scott Heard is getting back to his best as he reaches a century of games for Folkestone Invicta.

The midfielder is set to make his 100th appearance for the club at Carshalton on Saturday.

Heard was expected to miss the whole season with a knee injury but returned ahead of schedule.

The 25-year-old, who earned a move to Dagenham in 2016, will be a key man in Folkestone’s latest promotion push.

Manager Neil Cugley said: “He’s done well. He’s been a plus for us because with Ronnie Dolan getting injured, that knocked us back a bit.

“Scott’s worked really hard. He’s not yet the Scott Heard we know but he’s not far off.

“He’s still got lots of energy and he’s not far off being the player he was before the injury.

“His fitness has been good and we’re pleased with him. With Ronnie getting injured, it’s worked out not too bad.

“Scott brings a lot to the side. We suddenly become very experienced in midfield with him, Micheal Everitt and Ian Draycott.

“We did everything right for him (when he was injured). He looked after himself right and it just fell into place.

“I’m pleased for him and long may it continue.”

Folkestone are in eighth place in Bostik Premier, three points outside the play-offs, after a 2-0 defeat at Enfield last weekend.

They’ve got 10 games remaining, starting with the trip to Carshalton on Saturday.

“There’s still a long way to go,” Cugley said. “It’s a big few weeks because we’ve got a hard game on Saturday.

“I thought Carshalton were one of the better sides in the league – they were really good at our place so that’ll be a tough game.

“Ade Yusuff will be suspended and Matt Newman pulled up before the Enfield game with a groin injury.

“He’s done well but that could rule him out for a little while so that’s disappointing.

“But it’s a game to look forward to because Carshalton play some good football.”

The Robins won 3-2 at the Fullicks Stadium in October when late goals from Daniel Pappoe and Raheem Sterling-Parker took the game away from Invicta.
