England star James Tredwell turned out for Folkestone Cricket Club on Saturday and he could play a part in their bid to reach the Kent League Premier Division this season.
But the 32-year-old Kent spinner, pictured playing in Folkestone’s warm-up game against Canterbury on Saturday, isn’t expected to be a regular in skipper Andy Bray’s 1st XI.
Tredwell, who played in the World t20 in Bangladesh earlier this year, is in the England squad for Friday’s one-day international against Scotland in Aberdeen.
And with an ODI series against Sri Lanka to follow, not to mention Tredwell’s likely Kent commitments, Bray knows any more Folkestone appearances would be a bonus.
He said: "We’re not factoring him into our plans but if I get a phone call from him saying ‘can I play?’ we’ll be more than happy to accommodate him.
"He’s a phenomenal cricketer and I envisage him playing in the one-day squad against Sri Lanka. I’m sure he’ll be back playing all forms of county cricket for Kent as well. If he does play a few games this season, it will be the icing on the cake."
