Folkestone boss Neil Cugley says he is in no rush to add the final piece to his new-look Invicta side.
With pre-season training set to start next week, Cugley remains in talks with candidates to help fill the centre-back void left by the departure of Liam Friend to Margate and Frankie Chappell to Lewes.
He said: “I’m still talking to one or two defenders but the rest of the squad is pretty much in place.
“We do, of course, need someone else to play alongside Callum Davies at centre-half, we’ve known that for quite a while. But midfield is pretty much settled.
“Micheal Everitt’s decision to play full-time again and the return of Scott Heard has solved a major problem in the middle.
“Having Scott back makes up for Miles Cornwell’s move back to Sittingbourne but having Mev back is a bonus that we weren’t really expecting.
“Knowing that I can concentrate on getting a new centre-half simplifies the situation when I’m talking to agents, players or other clubs.” Cugley expects to field several trialists during pre-season while he is also hoping to sign a keeper as cover for No.1 Tim Roberts.
Invicta’s pre-season schedule begins with the Dave Williams Memorial Game against Hythe at the Fullicks Stadium on Sunday, July 9 (2pm).
This is followed by the visit of newly-promoted Championship side Millwall on Tuesday, July 11 (7.30pm).
