Callum Davies has signed a new two-year contract at Folkestone Invicta.
The centre-half has been in great form this season, playing 36 league games as Invicta have gatecrashed the Bostik Premier promotion race.
Davies, a former Gillingham and Maidstone player, will now be at the Fullicks Stadium until 2020.
Folkestone boss Neil Cugley said: "We're delighted. He got offers to go somewhere else but it suits his lifestyle and how we do things at the club.
"It's massive for us. He's been outstanding this season, the fans love him and the other players love him.
"For him to say 'I want to stay at Folkestone', he could have chances to go elsewhere but he hasn't and I'm pleased about that."
Davies follows striker Johan ter Horst in committing to the club beyond the end of this season.
Cugley said: "It shows that whatever league we're in, we want to keep good players.
"We can only go to such much (money) and we have to accept that. If players think there's something better for them elsewhere, good luck to them - we shake their hands and move on but I think the players seem quite happy at the moment.
"Callum's got a good job, a wife and child and I think he's happy.
"We're not a club that trains very hard because of where the players are and the money we pay.
"We haven't trained for ages and sometimes that can suit them. As long as they get the results, I leave them alone to do their own thing, especially with players away from the town.
"If you drag them down the motorway three times a week, they'll soon get fed up and realise how much they're spending on petrol and then they might not stay.
"You have to compromise."
