Departing Folkestone captain Callum Davies has been given a unique send-off.
Davies, 31, has left the club due to family commitments and now has signed for Faversham this summer.
And Alcaline UK Limited - the haulage and distribution company and Invicta’s significant shareholder and shirt sponsor - marked the occasion by giving him a helicopter tour of London before returning to Cheriton Road.
The AS355 Eurocopter F2 five-seater helicopter is one of Alcaline’s fleet of three which provide provider charters, as well as urgent air freight if required. They offer sightseeing tours of Kent, London and the South of England.
It’s possible to fly from Folkestone to London in only 25 minutes.
When the stalwart ex-Gillingham centre-back’s flight landed, he was met by Alcaline chief executive Lorenzo Zaccheo, David Zaccheo and Neil Shaw, as well as his haul of trophies from his last season at Invicta. These included the players’ player, supporters’ player and manager’s player-of-the-season trophies, which he was presented with at the end-of-season awards.
Davies said: “I leave the club with a heavy heart but great memories, on and off the field.
Healey: 3G pitch would be game-changer
“The flight over London and return to the ground was amazing, and a massive thank you to the team at Alcaline for making it happen.”
He was joined on the flight by Alcaline’s general manager, David Zaccheo, who wanted to mark Davies’ commitment to the club over the last eight years.
Alcaline chief executive Lorenzo Zaccheo said: “Callum has always been one of the players who gave his all on the pitch for the club and we wanted to recognise that commitment.
“Over the last season under the new owners, the club has reconnected with the local community thanks to upgrades in the facilities, especially the Dugout Sports Bar, which is now a (popular) destination - not just on match days.
“We’re looking forward to a positive 2024/25 season, on and off the pitch.”
