Folkestone Invicta 2 Eastleigh 2
FOLKESTONE Invicta had to settle for a point having twice been ahead against Eastleigh in the Ryman Premier Division on Saturday.
The home side took the lead after just four minutes when top scorer James Dryden turned the ball in after a good move involving James Nielson, who was making his first league start, and Simon Glover on the left wing.
But Eastleigh equalised six minutes later when Danny Smith controlled the ball with his head and lobbed his shot over the goalkeeper.
Dryden had a golden chance to put Invicta back in front after 25 minutes when he shot wide when well placed, but he made amends two minutes later with his second from an almost identical position.
Glover did well again, this time on the right flank, and his cross was converted by the well-positioned Dryden.
The visitors introduced Andy Forbes into the action after 48 minutes and his presence seemed to lift his team.
Forbes was adjudged to have been fouled by Adam Flanaghan, although he could easily have been penalised himself for a push on James Everitt. He picked himself up and was in the right place in the box to turn in Ryan Ashford’s free kick.
Invicta would have taken a point before the match against a team lying fourth in the league, but they might feel a touch disappointed having led twice.
