Folkestone Invicta thrash Ascot United 8-1 in FA Trophy third qualifying round; Ashford United, Sittingbourne, Dover Athletic, Cray Valley PM and Chatham Town also progress

Isthmian Premier Folkestone thumped Isthmian South Central side Ascot United in the FA Trophy third qualifying round on Saturday.

Winger Khale Da Costa got the scoring started at Cheriton Road in the 18th minute, with away defender Joe Gater putting through his own net shortly before the half-hour mark.

Midfielder Amadou Kassarate made it 3-0 and striker Dan Smith claimed his first two goals in first-half stoppage time - the second of which was a penalty that had been won by Da Costa.

Smith completed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute and, although Ascot midfielder Sean McCormack scored on the hour to deny Invicta a clean sheet, substitute Evans Kouassi bagged a late brace to seal Folkestone’s 8-1 victory.

Teenage former Gillingham forward Ronald Sithole got the only goal on his debut as Ashford edged past Southern League Premier Division South Walton & Hersham.

The 19-year-old struck at Homelands in the 15th minute to make it 1-0 while substitute Josh Tobin was red-carded in the 53rd minute - just two after coming on.

Promotion-chasing Isthmian South East side Sittingbourne were 2-1 winners at home to Isthmian Premier Bognor Regis.

Midfielder Henry Sinai scored the winner on 72 minutes, two after Bognor Regis had initially cancelled out skipper Liam Smith’s first-half effort at Woodstock. It is the first time the Brickies have made the first round of the competition in 20 years.

Three first-half goals guided Cray Valley PM to a 3-1 win at Ramsgate.

Midfielder Matthew Vigor and forward Freddie Parker’s brace had the Isthmian Premier Millers three goals to the good in the first 30 minutes, skipper Joe Taylor giving Ben Smith’s Isthmian South East side hope with one back - his 14th already this season - before the half-time interval.

But that was the way the scoreline stayed as Cray Valley, who pipped the Rams to the Isthmian South East title last term, were victors in pretty comfortable fashion. Read the match report here.

Dover were 3-0 victors at home against Isthmian Premier rivals Cheshunt.

After a goalless first period, Cheshunt defender Remi Sutton put through his own net at Crabble to give Whites the lead before Portuguese forward Ruben Soares-Junior struck in the 64th minute.

Midfielder Luke Baptiste got Dover’s third five minutes later against Cheshunt, who had Raul Da Silva dismissed with 18 minutes to play.

Kieran Monlouis and Francis Mampolo both came off the substitutes’ bench to make their debuts for Jake Leberl’s side.

Winger Jordy Mongoy got the only goal as Chatham were 1-0 winners at home against Isthmian Premier rivals Wingate & Finchley.

Striker Ore Bello, who has joined from Potters Bar, came off the substitutes’ bench to make his bow for Kevin Hake’s team.

Early-season Isthmian Premier strugglers Cray Wanderers lost on penalties at Brentwood.

Forward Lateef Adaja struck for Neil Smith’s side on 55 minutes to cancel out the hosts’ 19th-minute opening goal - but Cray Wanderers were beaten 4-3 in the shootout.

Herne Bay were edged out late on at newly-promoted Isthmian Premier outfit Chichester, losing 2-0.

Isaac Bello found the net at the death for the hosts, with fellow substitute Mo Jammeh then adding a second in the 94th minute.

Winger Luke Wanadio came back to haunt his former club in Dartford’s 1-0 home defeat to Dulwich Hamlet.

All winning clubs at this stage pocket £2,450 in prize money.
