Stuart King returned to haunt his former club as Folkestone Invicta's four-match home winning run in Ryman League Division 1 South was ended by Faversham at The Fullicks Stadium on Saturday.
King, who scored 44 goals in 47 starts during his time at Invicta, put the visitors ahead four minutes before the break when he fired into the bottom corner.
Town skipper Wayne Wilson then doubled the lead from the spot on 58 minutes after his opposite number Liam Friend had been shown a red card for a foul on Liam King.
The defeat was only Invicta's second in 13 league matches and their first in seven games at the Fullicks this season but they could have few complaints against a resurgent Faversham.
Invicta welcomed back keeper Tim Roberts while Faversham were forced into a late change when they lost defender Ryan Cooper to injury and Liam King stepped up from the bench.
The youngster partnered namesake - and Invicta old boy - Stuart King up front and was one of four under-21s in the starting line-up alongside Daniel Carrington, Josh McCallum and keeper Will Godmon.
Both sides made a lively start and Invicta were almost ahead inside five minutes as full-back Josh Vincent sent a firm header against the post.
Faversham's Stuart King almost caught out home keeper Roberts with a wind-assisted effort from long range which dipped just over, while at the other end Ashley Miller curled over after the ball had dropped favourably for him at the far post.
Faversham created an excellent opening on 21 minutes when Wayne Wilson squared the ball back for Liam King whose goalbound effort was deflected just wide.
As the game continued in an open fashion Invicta's end Carl Rook headed wide at the far post from a Vincent cross on the half hour and then top scorer Ian Draycott blazed over when equally well placed.
Rook had another good opening but could only head tamely into the arms of Town keeper Will Godmon and just moments later the visitors were ahead.
Invicta should have known all about King's predatory instincts around the box when he got the ball out the right hand side of the area but they let him cut inside to unleash a low shot that beat Roberts inside his near post.
Invicta boss Neil Cugley replaced the injured Ronnie Dolan with Jordan Wraight at half-time but it was Faversham who started the second half better with Roberts having to parry away a low, skidding effort from Ashley Brown.
That was almost Brown's last contribution as he limped off soon after to be replaced by Dave Botterill but with 58 minutes played the two Kings swapped passes and when Liam King broke into the box he was caught by Friend as he slid in with keeper Roberts.
Referee Connor Farrell sent Friend off and Wilson confidently beat Roberts low away to his right after which Invicta barely created a chance worthy of the name.
Manager Cugley threw on Jon Pilbeam and Dane Luchford for the final quarter-of-an-hour but Faversham stood firm with Godmon never seriously tested and Town almost added a third on 80 minutes when Liam King thudded a a shot against the post.
Invicta remain top, two points clear of Molesey while Faversham are in ninth.
