Folkestone Rugby Club moved into joint second place in London 4 South East, four points behind leaders Tonbridge Juddians, with Saturday's 8-5 victory at Charlton Park.
In an entertaining and hard-fought match which was a credit to both teams. Lee Jeffery's side took an 8-0 half-time lead through a Seyhan Fell penalty and a try by Dan Sangiuseppe.
But Charlton Pack responded with a try early in the second half and Folkestone then had to withstand heavy pressure to cling on to their slender three-point lead.
Man of the match for Folkestone was front row by Pat Smith.
It wasn't such a good day for Ashford, who suffered a heavy 47-6 defeat at Erith in Kent 1.
