Folkestone Invicta have announced the signing of former Gillingham midfielder Josh Chambers.
Chambers, 20, had been on the fringes of the senior team at Gillingham in the last few seasons but was released this summer.
He left the Gills after making three senior appearances, along with loan spells at the likes of Worthing and Welling United.
He played in a Tottenham development team two years ago as he looked to progress his career but ended up back with the Gills for the 2022/23 season.
Chambers stayed on for the following season at Gillingham as part of the B Team but that’s now been disbanded.
He’ll now be hoping to make an impact in first-team football at Folkestone Invicta in the Isthmian Premier Division, with a first game of the season on Saturday against Carshalton Athletic.
The midfielder played for Invicta in a friendly match against Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.
Invicta boss Andy Drury said: “He’s a player that has been on my radar all summer and it is great to get this deal done ahead of the first game on Saturday.
“He’s spent the majority of the last two years playing in the National League South with Worthing and Welling and we want to get him back to that level.
“He is a player who can play in any role in midfield and that provides us with great versatility, he has huge potential and we want to help him fulfil that here at Folkestone Invicta.”
