Folkestone Invicta 2 - 0 Maldon Town

FIRST half goals from James Fraser and Walid Matata gave Folkestone all three points as they overcame lowly Maldon Town at the Buzzlines Stadium on Monday night.

Fraser opened his account for the club when he thumped the ball into the net after 30 minutes when the referee played an excellent advantage following a foul on Walid Matata just outside the penalty area.

Matata himself increased the lead when he finished off an excellent Invicta passing move by heading Kevin Watson’s ball in from the right back across goal and into the net.

It was Matata’s second headed goal in three days and the first time that Invicta had scored twice in a game since record goalscorer James Dryden hit a brace on his farewell appearance for the club way to Wealdstone back in December.

Invicta made one change from Saturday’s starting line up as striker Chris Wright came in for Paul Jones (groin injury).

There were bookings for Invicta’s John Guest and Maldon’s Lee, though Guest’s caution could well be overturned as a case of mistaken identity.
