Folkestone Optimists Hockey Club secured an impressive 3-2 away victory at promotion-chasing Marden Russets on Saturday in South League Kent/Sussex Regional.

The result was all the more impressive considering Folkestone gave their opponents a two-goal lead midway through the first half.

Injury returnee Tom Nicholls began the fight back by halving the deficit just before the break.

Martin Ritchie’s short corner goal then levelled the scores and with five minutes remaining, Andy Mainwaring completed the turn around to give Folkestone the points.
