Yeading v Folkestone Invicta
FOLKESTONE Invicta face a daunting trip to leaders Yeading on Saturday, with manager Neil Cugley admitting he is at a loss to explain their poor away form.
Invicta have won just once away from home in the league this season, and Cugley says their lack of away points is the main reason they find themselves drawn into the relegation dogfight.
Cugley, whose team have taken just two points out of the last 21, said: "Our away form has not been very good and I really don’t know why.
"We’ve had some good performances, drawing with Braintree and Billericay and beating Leyton, but we have not done that sort of thing often enough.
"It is a problem but I don’t know why it’s happened because we play the same formation away as we do at home."
Cugley concedes it will take a big effort for Invicta to get anything from their trip to the leaders but he still feels there is enough talent in the squad to claw their way out of the Ryman Premier drop zone.
He added: "I’ve watched Yeading and they are probably the best side in the league but being top brings its own pressures. I think four wins should be enough to keep us up and we’ve got to play several of their closest rivals so our fate is really in our own hands."
For the trip to Yeading Invicta will again be without the suspended Adam Flanagan while striker James Dryden is a doubt after injuring his elbow in the 3-0 defeat at Worthing last weekend.
Paul Lamb is back after suspension but Cugley feels Kevin Watson still needs another week to recover form his knee injury and that it is unlikely James Chandler will play again this season.
