Micheal Everitt is playing on at Folkestone Invicta.
The midfielder, who’s made 636 appearances for the club – more than any other
player – has agreed to be part of Neil Cugley’s squad next season.
Everitt’s decision has delighted his manager in a summer which has already seen the experienced defensive duo of Liam Friend and Frankie Chappell walk away.
Cugley said: "Micheal’s agreed to play again next year and do pre-season, which I’m delighted about. I’m sure he’ll help a little bit on the coaching as well.
"He’s a knowledgeable lad and I’m pleased. He came in and did a great job for us and he wasn’t fully fit then, so imagine getting him fitter.
"It’s important because it’s hard to get holding midfield players.
"The younger lads can learn a lot from him about positional play and he does that well. He’s not at an age now where he bombs all around the park. He gets into the right areas and that’s important.
"I spoke to him over the weekend and he was happy to carry on. I got him out of retirement twice but this is more a case of a ‘come on, let’s get going and be part of it from the start, all season long.’"
Ronnie Dolan is due to have an ankle operation next month but Folkestone hope the midfielder will be fit in time for the start of the season.
Cugley said: "We didn’t know if he’d step up to Ryman Premier but he did. He was doing a great job until he got the injury (in January) so it’ll be nice to get him back.
"We understand he needs only a minor operation to clean out the area around the ankle cartilage and that should take place in two to three weeks’ time.
"He’ll probably need the same sort of period to recover but should be fit to resume training in five to six weeks.
"Obviously he’s hoping to be OK by the start of the season in August – or not too long after that."
