Paul Morgan has decided to stay on as Folkestone Invicta chairman after receiving the backing of supporters this week.

Having announced he was considering walking away from the club because of negativity towards board members, Morgan met fans at a meeting on Monday night.

"It was a very good meeting and I'm sticking around," he said.

"The support I've got from the fans has been fantastic and I can't thank them enough.

"They're a great bunch of fans, which I've said from day one.

"Some of the negativity going around was more personal abuse against two of the directors, Neil Cugley and Jim Pellatt, which I couldn't take any more.

"That's why I decided to put the statement out there to shake them up and change a few things. Fortunately, it's worked."

Folkestone are 10th in Bostik Premier, averaging crowds of 442 at the Fullicks Stadium.

Morgan said: "We've had a fantastic season so I don't get why the negativity. We're doing very well.

"The facilities are there, the team's there and everything's going right. We're debt-free but you always get one or two and that's the problem.

"Those one or two were there on Monday night and they seem to understand now a bit more so hopefully they'll be with the rest of the fans now.

"There's not many football clubs in our league that are debt-free and that's the most important thing for this football club.

"We've got a squad sitting just outside the play-offs and I don't see why we can't make the play-offs.

"The facilities are fantastic. Bar Invicta's been revamped, the changing-rooms are brilliant and the pitch is absolutely fantastic."
