Folkestone’s latest signing has hit the ground running and boss Neil Cugley wants to bring in another new player before the weekend.
Ben Pattie, 20, scored on his debut as Invicta kicked off the new season with a 3-0 win at home to Harrow Borough.
The Watford-based former QPR player has initially joined the club until the end of August with fellow striker Carl Rook (shin) out for at least another fortnight.
Cugley said: "He’s a target man mainly, holds it up well, not bad in the air and he’s got a good left foot.
"I couldn’t have asked much more from the lad. We didn’t know him but he said how much he’s enjoyed it and he did well on Saturday.
"He’s not match-fit, he broke his arm so couldn’t do any pre-season. He’s trying to play catch-up but he’s done a good job for us.
"He gets tired but we’ve got Ashley Miller to come on and he did well on Saturday. He’s come on and given the other team a lot of problems in the last 20 minutes.
"We need to get a player or two in because we have got a tiny squad.
"We’ve got 19 games in the first 10 weeks, so it’s going to be tough for some of these players to keep going.
"You pick up injuries and we need to get a couple in. I’m hoping to have a chat with the board and try to do that.
"Euan Sahadow, who’s 16, he’s not available now, he goes away for a couple of weeks with his school so Edgy (Roland Edge) will go into the squad on Saturday.
"We need to be a bit stronger so we’ll hopefully get somebody in before Saturday, on loan or permanent. That would help a little bit."
