Lydd’s Bradley Ray is back on home turf as the Superbike World Championship continues at Donington Park this weekend.
Yamaha Motoxracing’s Ray lies 24th in the championship with two points after four rounds, but with back-to-back meetings ahead - a visit to the Czech Republic follows next weekend - two strong events could move him up the standings.
Last season’s race two at Donington was one of the highlights of Ray’s 2023 campaign, with a points-scoring run to 13th place - although he won’t remember race one fondly after crashing out on lap one.
“I'm very excited for my home round at Donington Park this weekend,” Ray said.
“After having made a little progress during the Misano races, I can't wait to race at a track I know so well and where I know how the bike needs to be prepared to be competitive.
“We hope the British weather is kind and that we can run a consistent weekend and score solid results.”
Although Ray needs no motivation at Donington, team principal Sandro Carusi hopes the British support can make a difference.
"The Donington round is a home race for Bradley, and I hope that at this track, one he knows so well, he is able to score a good result,” he said.
“I'm sure that the support of his many fans will help to spur him on.”
