Vicky Silk has been called up to represent England in the discus at the Four Nations tournament in Cardiff on August 30, following a succession of impressive performances in recent months.
The Folkestone youngster, who competes in the Dwarf section of Paralympic organisation, clinched her England place by claiming three gold medals at the British Junior (under-20s) Disability Championships in Blackpool.
The 16-year-old won her favourite event, the javelin, with her second longest throw ever (18.76m) before throwing a lifetime best of 5.70m in the shot put.
Silk then won the discus with a throw of 15.68, four metres further than any of her rivals.
She also recently competed in the British Open Disability Championships at Manchester’s Sportcity venue, taking fourth in the javelin (17.07), third in the discus (17.16) and fourth in the shot.
