Folkestone will take the fight to Woking when they go in search of a big FA Trophy upset this weekend.
Few will expect Neil Cugley’s men to beat a Cards side top of National League South.
But Invicta, who are scoring for fun again, surprised plenty by reaching the Bostik Premier play-offs last season and travel to Kingfield full of belief.
They’ve won four of their last five matches but are 34 league places below the three-time Trophy winners.
Cugley said: “We’ll be positive. We won’t go there to defend, we’ll attack and give them a game.
“I know the manager (Alan Dowson) fairly well and they’re a big club so it’s nice to have a game people can look forward to.
“They’re a good club and it’ll be a good day. Hopefully, we do ourselves justice and especially for some of the younger lads, it’s a chance to show off their talent.”
Folkestone’s form has improved in the last month and they’ve scored 15 goals in their last five games.
Woking, unbeaten in five, have been averaging home gates of more than 1,600 this season, so it’s a great stage for Invicta to perform on.
Cugley said: “Didcot (in the last round) were one of the lowest-ranked teams and now we’re playing the highest-ranked team in the competition.
“You’ve got to look forward to these sort of games whether you’re a player or a manager.
“There’s no pressure on the players at all. We’ll go out to enjoy it.
“If we went there five or six weeks ago, we’d be looking a bit down but we’re getting there now.
“It’s taken a bit of time to get going this season but hopefully we can put on a good show and the players can show what good players they are.”
Johan ter Horst (knee) is out but Sam Hasler could start after illness, while Josh Vincent, Ian Draycott and Alfie Paxman were all due to start against Hayes & Yeading in the Velocity Trophy last night (Tuesday).
