It might seem impossible that a fresh cream cake of your choice can be made in 20 minutes, but that is exactly what The Cake Box can offer customers in a rush.
Part of an Eggfree Cake Box franchise, the business in Milton Road, Gravesend, began when director Shelinder Bhurji’s relative frantically tried to find a shop selling egg free birthday cakes for a daughter.
The family followed a strict lacto vegetarian diet and were frustrated they could not find what they wanted.
Spotting a gap in the market, they started up in 2011, making and selling cakes on demand.
With a motto ‘Making Celebrations a Piece of Cake’ there is no limit to the creations for every possible occasion from small group celebrations, weddings to street parties.
The product not only suits those with egg allergies, but many customers just love the look and taste of them and the client base now extends to Dartford and Medway. It has become so popular Mr Bhurji is looking at opening another branch by the end of this year.
The company believes in engaging with the community and has given cakes to various charities and schools. It even made a special cake for the Olympic torch relay as well as Woodville Hall’s 45th anniversary.
“We feel we have added value to the diverse area of Gravesend by Mr Bhurji said: “We have found a niche in the market for an alternative type of cake that caters for everyone.
boosting the local economy as well as establishing a brand the community can trust.”
