Facebook was one of the most popular sites visited by Dartford and Gravesham council employees in the past year, with more than 720,000 hits.
Between April 2012 and April 2013, the popular social networking site racked up 724,834 hits at Dartford and 153,351 at Gravesham.
However, Darts fans will be disheartened to learn that 24,726 hits were made on Southend United’s website.
That website total was surpassed, however, by dating site Mature Dating UK.
Dartford FC failed to make it into the top 500.
Dartford council leader – and Darts FC director – Jeremy Kite said: “I’m dumbfounded. It’s inexplicable.
“Maybe someone lives there or they’re checking out the new signings for Dartford.”
The most popular websites for Dartford council staff were Google, with more than four million hits, and the council’s own website, with 2.3 million.
Other popular sites included Argos, with 180,000 hits, and shopping site Amazon, with 148,000.
Mature Dating UK — described as the “perfect place for mature singles who are into online dating” — had 74,888 visits over the past 12 months.
A spokesman for Dartford council said: “Dartford Council monitors its internet usage, and staff can browse the internet during their breaks.”
In Gravesham, Google was the most popular site, with 1.2 million hits.
Facebook had 153,351 hits, Amazon 47,750, the council’s website 31,938, Argos 9,740 and Marks & Spencer 4,477.
A Gravesham council spokesman said: “We permit staff to use the internet for personal use during lunchtimes and other breaks.
“Usage is monitored, and there is restricted access to sites like YouTube. We have few, if any, issues with internet usage.”
