A 27-stone man has been saved from the advancing tide in a nail-biting rescue.
The man called emergency services after falling and breaking his leg at the Denton foreshore at Gravesend, at about 1.20pm on Sunday.
Firefighters tried to retrieve him but were unable to stretcher him out, and their height vehicle could not get close enough.
After an hour, and with the tide rising, the RNLI were called and the man was transferred from the beach onto a waiting boat.
He was taken to nearby Denton pier and lifted to a waiting ambulance by a commercial crane and taken to Darent Valley Hospital.
It is not known if the man, who has not been identified, remains in hospital.
