The 500-day countdown to the 2012 Olympics began today as tickets went sale.

Gravesham council has launched a competition to find out what event people would stage in the town to support the Olympics. The winning entry could win the use of a big screen in the town to show Olympic events. See gravesham.gov.uk

In Dartford tonight, members of Dartford Judo Club will be spelling out the number 500 to mark the countdown.

For those after a ticket to the Games, Tuesday, April 26 is the closing date for the ballot.
