Legendary garage artists DJ Luck and MC Neat will be at a town’s Christmas lights switch-on as part of free festive celebrations.
The duo, best known for hits A Little Bit of Luck and Masterblaster 2000, will be performing an hour-long set in Gravesend town centre.
Kicking off at 2pm, there will be entertainment and a live music stage at the junction of New Road and the High Street with the 90s legends’ show starting at 4pm.
As darkness falls, the Mayor of Gravesham Cllr Gurdip Ram Bungar will be joined by the cast of this year’s panto at The Woodville, Snow White, to build up to the big moment when the lights go on.
The switch-on event is on Saturday, November 18.
Gravesham council’s cabinet member for community and leisure, Cllr Lauren Sullivan, said: “We know it has been a really tough year for many, both families and businesses and so we wanted to launch the Christmas season by bringing everyone together.
“We have moved our lights switch-on from its traditional Friday evening to the Saturday to give everyone the chance to spend a little longer in our wonderful riverside town and to open up the event to those who have not been able to attend on a weekday.
“Our entertainment has also moved from Community Square to the centre of town where we hope everyone will support our fantastic local independent traders by doing a little early Christmas shopping and enjoying our fantastic restaurants, cafes and bars.
“The lights switch on is just the curtain raiser. We have a fantastic weekend of Christmas fun and events lined up for December, with more details on that to come.
“I look forward to seeing everyone coming together to celebrate Christmas in Gravesham.”
Elsewhere in the county, 90s boyband East 17, best known for their Christmas classic Stay Another Day, will perform at Westwood Cross in Broadstairs and Folkestone town centre.
The group will be visiting on Friday, November 17.
