Crash on A227 Wrotham Road in Culverstone Green, near Meopham, shuts road in both directions

A busy road has been closed in both directions after a car crashed into an electricity pole in the early hours.

The A227 Wrotham Road at Culverstone Green, near Meopham, has been shut while emergency crews deal with the accident.

Police officers were called to the crash just after 1am this morning but have since left the scene.

Crews from Kent Highways and UK Power Networks are still on site.

The incident happened between Newlands Lane and Whitepost Lane, near the Texaco garage.

Pictures from the scene show where the car hit the pole, causing it to bend on impact.

The extent of any injuries is not known.
