Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash involving three vehicles on the A2 this morning.

The collision happened on the London-bound carriageway near the Bean junction just after 8.30am.

One person, who called the emergency services, said the car was on fire and they believed someone was trapped in the vehicle.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman has since confirmed there was no fire, and no one was trapped.

Among emergency crews on the scene were three fire engines, police cars and ambulances.

No one is thought to have been seriously hurt.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a road traffic collision on the A2 London bound at 8.35am on Tuesday 4 October 2016 after three vehicles were reported to have been involved.

"Officers and other emergency services are at the scene where two lanes are currently blocked near the exit for Bean.

"The South East Coast Ambulance Service are at the scene assessing injuries, which are not believed to be serious."

One lane remained closed until just before midday. Delays have since cleared.
