Man charged after alcohol and groceries stolen from Tesco in Gravesend

A suspected shoplifter who allegedly stole groceries and alcohol from a supermarket has been charged.

Investigations into the alleged thefts at Tesco stores in New Road and Whitehill Lane, Gravesend, led to the arrest of a man in Parrock Street.

The thefts were reported to have happened over 15 days, between Tuesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 25.

Narinder Biriah, of no fixed address was later charged with five counts of theft.

The 47-year-old was also charged with failing to provide a sample for a drug test in custody.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 30 where he was bailed to a hearing at the same court on February 9.
