The start of the Harvel 5 mile road race
Almost 600 runners finished the ever-popular Harvel 5 multi-terrain race on Saturday afternoon, but none faster than Sevenoaks runner Allan Lee.
Lee crossed the line in 26.36, 10 seconds ahead of M45 master Graeme Saker of Tonbridge AC with M40 Simon Hesketh of Larkfield a further nine seconds back in third.
Ian Reid (27.12) of Medway and Maidstone was the third M40 plus and finished in sixth overall behind James Davis (27.00) and Anthony Jackson (27.11).
David Abery (28.51) of Istead and Ifield Harriers was the leading M50 master and 14th overall while Trevor Edgely (31.09) of Invicta East Kent took the M60 award.
Tina Oldershaw added to her list of Kent women’s wins in a time of 30.28, with Kerrie Clarke (W35, 31.03) of Medway and Maidstone in second and Sharon Hawkins (W45, 31.37) of Maidstone Harriers in third.
Annie Ross (41.56) of Paddock Wood was the surprise W55 winner.
Two-dozen Istead and Ifield Harriers runners came home, led by Abery, who finished 30 seconds ahead of Steve Cable who was 18th. Mark Champion took part in his first race since a cycling injury and finished 106th in 34.08.
