Shoppers marvelled at the sight of comic book characters and storybook favourites during the Christmas parade on Saturday.
Hundreds of children and adults cheered on the parade through Gravesend.
Many dressed up as part of the Gravesham Council’s Christmas Everyday programme. There were prizes for the best-dressed characters in the parade, which started at 4pm and was led by a horse-drawn carriage.
Among the highlights were the appearances of Twinkle the Bear and Flutterstar Fairy from Baby Ballet. Superheroes including Batman and Ironman also took part.
The parade made its way from Community Square, down Windmill Street and then stopped in New Road for carol singing. Other activities during the day included crafts, story-telling, theatre and dance performances and music from Gravesend Salvation Army Band.
Gravesham council leader John Cubitt was delighted with how the parade went and paid tribute to the efforts of those who have helped put on a flurry of festive events across the town this month.
“Christmas is a time for giving and, for the third year, the council’s gift to everyone has been a fantastic festival of family fun," he said.
“This year’s Christmas Every Day has been bigger than ever. It’s offered a packed programme of events, with something for everybody."
“My thanks go to all those who have joined with us at the council to help produce this vibrant and exciting programme."
“We are fortunate that Gravesham has plenty to look forward to in the new year."
“I wish all our residents a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”
