A blaze in an empty bowling pavilion is thought to have been started deliberately.
Three fire engines and police officers were called to the former bowls club, in Donald Biggs Drive, Gravesend, last night (February 14).
Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using main jets around 9.30pm.
No injuries were reported.
It is thought the fire was started deliberately and officers are treating the incident as suspected arson.
The former bowling green is set to be demolished after plans were approved to redevelop the land at Gravesend Rugby Football Club (GRFC).
A four-storey building with 62 "extra care" flats is set to be built in its place by retirement housing firm McCarthy Stone.
The rugby club decided to shut the bowling green in 2020 following discussions with the landowners over financial struggles.
It has been vacant ever since.
Anyone with information that may assist the police’s investigation should call 01474 366149, quoting crime reference 46/25303/24.
