A 30-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was stabbed.

Kuran Gill is reported to have attacked the man with a knife while a warrant was carried out at his home in Sun Marsh Way in Gravesend.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious injury to his left arm. He has since been discharged, but will require further treatment.

Gill has been charged with attempted murder, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, conspiring to import cannabis and acquiring criminal property following the raid at around 6am yesterday

He was remanded in custody to attend Medway Magistrates' Court today.

A resident of the road, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I woke up at about 6.30am and it was a bit of a shock to say the least.

"There were around seven or eight police cars and a paramedic car in the road first thing and I could see a group of officers at a house.

"It just wasn't what I was expecting to see when I woke up. It had all cleared around 3pm."

A further two warrants were carried out on the same morning as part of the operation, which saw the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate target individuals suspected to be involved in importing cannabis.

They took place in Buckland Hill, Maidstone, and The Boulevard, Fulham, and led to the arrests of two 30-year-old men.

Gregory Blacklock, of Buckland Hill, and Jag Singh, of The Boulevard, were charged with conspiring to import cannabis.

All three men appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday and were remanded in custody to next appear at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, May 20.
