A body found in Gravesend is believed to be that of a 20-year-old man who has been missing for a fortnight.

The discovery was made on land off Stuart Road in the town yesterday afternoon.

Kent Police said they believe it to be Karol Michalak, of Old Road West, who had not been seen since January 20.

"At this time the death is being treated as non-suspicious."

Polish national Mr Michalak, a former North West Kent College student, was reported missing on Friday, January 24.

He was last seen in Gravesend at the St George's Centre at 7pm the previous Monday.

Police had described his disappearance as "out of character" as officers grew increasingly concerned for his welfare.
