Bogus police officers with fake sniffer dogs were seen knocking on doors telling people they needed to search their houses.

Residents in Bedford Road, Gravesend, were told there was illegal money inside their properties.

Police say the calls were reported to have happened between 8.20am and 10.50am on Friday, January 12.

The three men and two women showed one victim a photo of her husband’s car and asked if the vehicle belonged to her partner, before they entered the house.

They also had three white medium-sized dogs with them, which they took inside before searching the house.

During the search one of the men walked into the victim’s daughter’s bedroom and picked her up and put her on the couch before searching her bedroom.

They also removed the victim’s phone to stop her calling anyone.

The group searched the bedroom and found cash which they told the victim they were seizing. They then left the house.

The suspects were wearing black jackets with black combat style trousers which resembled police uniforms.

One man had a radio with him which he used at points when in the house.

Police have released computer generated images of people they want to speak to.
