A teenage boy ran into a supermarket after being chased by a would-be robber.

Police are trying to find the youngster after the incident in Gravesend town centre which officers were informed about following the incident.

They wish to speak to the boy – who is believed to be about 13 or 14-years-old – after he was reportedly seen running from a man on a bicycle in the New Road area at 8.10pm on February 17.

Police say it is understood the man had attempted to rob the boy, who has not yet been identified by police.

He ran into the store to seek refuge and was helped by shop staff.

The youngster was wearing a dark coloured coat with a light brown fur lined hood.

The incident is being investigated by the Kent Police Chief Constable’s Crime Squad after police learned of the incident during routine inquiries as part of regular patrols and duties.

PC Emma Laimbeer said: "The teenager we’re appealing to locate has done absolutely nothing wrong but we would really like to identify him so we can provide him with support and make sure he is ok.

"If he, or anyone with information that can help us find him, is reading this then I would encourage them to call us."
