A burglar has been jailed after he was spotted on CCTV wearing a pink dressing gown.
Wayne Austin, 37, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday.
He had stolen jewellery and a laptop worth thousands of pounds from a Northfleet home in August.
The court heard that on Monday, August 6, the house occupants headed off to a shopping centre and returned two hours later to find they had been burgled, with numerous items thrown around and drawers emptied.
Austin, of Princes Road in Gravesend, was arrested on Thursday, August 9, after he was spotted by cameras walking towards the victim's address before disappearing.
Half an hour later the same device pictured him - this time with an orange bag for life and a light pink dressing gown, that the victims said were theirs.
Detective Constable Steve Brown, the investigating officer for this case, said: "Austin has caused the victims to this offence a significant amount of distress and I hope that this sentence provides them with some reassurance.
"He cared little for the impact his offending would have on the people he targeted and was motivated purely by the desire to steal what was not his for his own selfish needs."
