A man has been arrested after he allegedly drove into a care home before spitting and kicking police officers.

He has been detained on suspicion of drink-driving, taking a vehicle without consent and two counts of assaulting a constable.

Police were called to the incident at Mayflower Care Home in Hartshill Road, Northfleet, at 11.18pm last night.

The car reportedly hit the building before a man left the vehicle on foot.

He remains in custody as inquiries continue, and no serious injuries have been reported.
