Two people had to be treated by paramedics after their car flipped onto its roof.

It is believed the driver of the vehicle lost control during heavy rainfall just after 6pm last night on the A2 cost bound.

Fire and ambulance crews were called to the accident near the Springhead junction, just after Bluewater.

One of the firefighters who attended said: "They were very lucky.

"They managed to escape without any serious injury and had got themselves out of their car before we got there.

"There was nobody else involved and it seems like the drive lost control of the car in the heavy rain.

"Paramedics treated them at the scene."

Traffic had been queuing back to the shopping centre, but all lanes were reopened shortly after 7pm.

It's believed a stretch of barrier was damaged in the accident.
