The Co-op is investing £1.8 million into two stores, creating 15 full and part-time jobs.

A new shop in Southfleet Road, Ebbsfleet, will open on Friday, July 5.

The existing branch in The Parade, Istead Rise, is being refitted and will re-launch on Thursday, July 4.

Both stores will offer fresh fruit and veg, healthy foods, meal ideas, ready-to-go hot food, essentials and an in-store bakery.

Bosses also promise award-winning wines alongside a Costa Coffee machine, cash machine, self-scan tills and paypoint,

The shops will provide a funding boost to good causes through the Co-op’s membership scheme.

Members receive a 5% reward on the purchase of own-brand products and services, with Co-op donating a further 1% to causes in the surrounding community.

David Jones, Co-op area manager, said: "We are delighted to have undertaken such a significant investment in Gravesend and are very proud to be part of this community.

"Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum, and our ambition is to ensure the store is a local hub for people living in the area.

"Our members make a difference locally and simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us, they are raising much needed funding for organisations who contribute to improving local life."
